The Campaign for Abolition of the Schizophrenia Label

Bullets and bombs hurt, but never underestimate the power of language.

Some words can destroy a life, some words take away hope and potential.

Some words can kill. Schizophrenia is just such a word.

We are calling for the label of schizophrenia to be abolished as a concept because it is unscientific, stigmatising, and does not address the root causes of serious mental distress.

Replacing schizophrenia with more meaningful and morally terminology will offer a more realistic possibility of recovery to those across the world who experience mental health problems.
